Project goal
The Mad Potter is a ceramic pottery painting business located in Houston TX. Due to the recent COVID-19 situation, The Mad Potter had to drastically change its business model. Before COVID, almost all of its business focused on in-store walk-in traffic and in-store party events. However, with the new social distancing and retail business shut-down, The Mad Potter had to adapt by pivoting to a “To-Go” model where customers could purchase pottery online and paint them in their own home. The Mad Potter came to me with an existing WordPress site that focused on walk-in and event booking as well as a Shopify site that only focused on To-Go orders.
Solution
After reviewing both sites, analyzing their analytics and gaining a better understanding of their overall business, I put together a strategy on how to merge the two sites into one and improve the overall user experience. This included redesigning their overall site structure, navigation, and basically the entire flow of how customers engaged with their site. The new site we built clearly emphasized their three different pillars of supporting walk-in customers, party events as well as To-Go orders. One of they key requirements was to also build the site in a way where The Mad Potter would have full control of their site content and easily add/edit/remove content without any coding knowledge. This was a really fun project to work on and I can’t wait to see how the new site performs and work on new enhancements for the future.
